Evaluation of AFAM+ on decay development, and overall quality of nectarines

2004 Research

• Advanced fresh air management (AFAM+) technology, as used in this trial, was not effective in reducing postharvest decay, or maintaining the postharvest quality of August Red and Flamekist nectarines, compared to nectarines stored under regular atmosphere (RA)

2005 Research

• Although higher CO₂ levels were obtained in the AFAM+ cold room than in 2004, no differences in overall quality of Flavortop nectarines were observed between the AFAM+ and RA treatments. Therefore, it is recommended to terminate the trial.
